At the 2007 British cheese awards, Coolea cheese was judged to be of gold standard in the modern British cheese category.  Because of the high votes from the judges it was also claimed to be the best overall Irish cheese.

There were over 850 cheeses entered from 175 different cheesemakers across the British Isles.
